RSVP
“Volunteers getting things done in Central Vermont and the Northeast Kingdom” If you are 55 or older and aching to volunteer, RSVP is eager to put you to work. RSVP builds a bank of volunteers and matches them with nonprofit groups. Despite a healthy pool of volunteer talent, the Northeast Kingdom has more need than volunteers to fill it. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, or you have a friend who would like to join RSVP, please call us at (802)626-5135 or (802)222-4994.
VOLUNTEER SPIRITS Fairbanks Museum needs volunteers to provide information to patrons about items in the museum and upcoming events, collect donations, have patrons sign the guest book and staff the gift shop. Hours are flexible and training is provided Transportation is an enormous obstacle to many people who want to remain independent and continue to live in their own homes. Stagecoach Transportation Services wants volunteer drivers to provide rides for people in the Bradford area without regular bus routes. Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles and are reimbursed for their travel expenses at the rate of $0.505 per mile. The hours are flexible and the choice to accept a trip is always up to you. The Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital depends upon its volunteers in every area of the hospital. If you are interested in working in the mammography clinic, the gift shop, as a patient greeter or in any of the many other areas, let us know. Training and on-going support is provided and you will be part of a growing, vital part of the medical community. River’s Reach, a regional resource center in Wells River is recruiting for tax-aide volunteers for the 2009 tax season. Training and on-going support is provided. HOPE would like volunteers to work in the store taking donations, keeping the store neat and orderly and sorting clothes. Also needed are volunteers to put quilt tops and backs together and to make children’s pajamas. OSIP Adult Day Services in Newbury provides participants with individual attention and services that may include professional health care services, nutritious meals, personal care and activities designed to foster independence. Services are designed to provide continuing opportunities for personal enrichment through group involvement outside the home. Volunteers are needed to distribute new marketing materials in the community and to share crafts or other activities with participants. Scheduling is flexible. The Hospice Program at Caledonia Home Health will sponsor training in the spring for new volunteers. Hospice recognizes that both the client and the family have special needs that are important and must be met. As a Hospice volunteer, you work with skilled nurses, clergy, social workers, home health aides and home care attendants to meet these needs. Everybody Wins Vermont continues to need volunteers to participate in a school based mentoring program in the St. Johnsbury schools. You will be paired with a student once a week to encourage reading. An orientation, training and on-going support is provided. |
