What is RSVP?

 

Lamoille Family Center is in need of volunteers for its summer outdoor youth activity programs; to staff the Morrisville Teen Center; and math tutors for its Learning Together Program.  Other opportunities include monitors for the supervised visitation program, requiring a 2 to 4 hour a week commitment - training provided.   Other special and seasonal and events are always needed.

Meals on Wheels is looking for drivers who are willing to deliver meals to elders and the disabled.  There is an upcoming need for Mondays, as well as substitute drivers. Routes take between 1.5 to 2 hours.  Drivers are compensated .43 per mile.

 River Arts is having a mailing party on April 10 to announce new programs and other volunteer opportunities.  They are always looking for help with public relations, event organizing, office help,   organizing speaking events, web design and graphics. Instructors are needed for cooking classes and help is needed assisting instructors with children’s summer art programs as well as other ongoing classes.

Second Chance is looking for volunteers willing to help at the thrift shop.  Duties include ringing up customer’s purchases, sorting and pricing clothes.   Three hour shifts are available and volunteers are encouraged to commit to scheduled hours. Volunteers are especially needed during the month of April.

Lamoille River Anglers – Stream bank stabilization projects occur Every Tuesday in May and volunteers are needed to plant trees and willows along sections of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail and on the Lamoille River.  April 23 and 24, five or six volunteers are need to bundle trees for plantings in May.

Central Vermont Council on Aging and Lamoille County Home Health have a variety of needs for volunteers that are interested in volunteering with seniors in the area.  Tasks could include friendly visiting, helping people read mail/write letters, or snow shoveling.

Central Vermont Adult Basic Education is in need of tutors.  By giving one to two hours a week you can make a difference in the lives of people here in Lamoille County.  Volunteers will work one on one with students who are learning English as a second language or working to get a high school diploma or GED.  Also, volunteers teach basic reading, writing, math and computer skills to adults.


The Lamoille Mentoring Partnership is looking to match caring and committed adults with children who are in need of a positive role model in their lives. By giving just a few volunteer hours each week, individuals can make a huge difference in a child’s life - right in our community.  Currently, there are nearly 100 children ranging from pre-K through grade 12 from throughout the Lamoille Valley that are in need of mentors.  Some mentors are needed to help with reading, while others are needed to help provide students with an opportunity to develop life skills such as communication, goal setting, conflict resolution, and decision making.
